Practical answers for purchasing and engineering teams selecting miniature speakers.
Speaker Selection & Technical Questions
How do I choose a miniature speaker?
Start with installation space, dimensions, amplifier or driver requirements and intended use. Compare impedance, rated power, SPL, frequency response, structure and connection type, then validate a sample in the device.
4Ω vs 8Ω speaker: how should I choose?
Match the nominal impedance to the amplifier requirements. Impedance alone does not determine loudness; consider power, sensitivity and the installed acoustic system.
Rated power vs maximum power
Rated power describes sustained operation under specified test conditions. Maximum power relates to a higher input under its stated conditions. Consult the individual datasheet; the figures are not interchangeable.
What does F0 mean?
F0 is the resonant frequency specified for the speaker. It depends on the moving system and acoustic structure. Compare it using the measurement conditions in the relevant datasheet.
What does SPL mean?
Sound pressure level describes acoustic output under specified input, distance and frequency conditions. Compare models only with equivalent measurement conditions.
Bare speaker vs enclosed speaker
An enclosed speaker combines a driver with an acoustic enclosure. A bare driver normally uses the device enclosure. Their performance depends on acoustic volume, sound openings and installation; they are not automatically interchangeable.
Spring contact vs pin type
Spring contacts form a pressure contact with mating pads. PCB pins use a pin connection, typically through PCB holes. Check the actual product structure, mounting and mating geometry; these are different connection types.
What information should I provide for speaker selection?
Provide available length, width and thickness, mounting method, amplifier conditions, target impedance and power, device application and expected sample quantity. Drawings, an existing sample and sound requirements help assess the selection.
Can wire length, connector or connection method be customized?
Contact Jiachuan with the required wire length, connector and connection method. Feasibility depends on the model, sample and project requirements. New tooling or substantial structural changes need a separate assessment.
Why should final suitability be confirmed by sample and device testing?
The enclosure, sound opening, mounting, amplifier and operating environment affect sound. Similar nominal specifications do not guarantee identical performance in the final device.
Can I request samples before volume supply?
Contact Jiachuan to confirm the sample requirement and specification. Volume supply follows the model and requirements agreed after evaluation.
Can I inquire about a small-batch project?
Yes. Provide the sample quantity, expected demand and validation stage so Jiachuan can assess support for the specific model and project.
